What does Bi Mojavez mean?

In Iran, no song can be released without a permit from Ershad.

Ershad, the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, decides who may sing, what they may sing and how. Women are banned from singing solo. Any song about the street, about protest, about freedom stays behind its door.

Our songs will never get that permit. That is our name: Bi Mojavez means “No Permit”.

Who we sing for

We sing for the street.

Protest hip-hop against the Islamic Republic, for the people who filled the alleys at night and for the ones who never came home.

And upbeat live-band songs about hope and about standing together. Because this night has a morning.
